Book Signing of Boorun's Canoe

Cameron James Cope is a photographic artist particularly concerned with exploring contemporary legacies of the colonial past. Cope describes his work as "conceptual documentary" in which he "purposefully balances medium and message". Boorun's Canoe is a photobook and Indigenous art collaboration that shares the story of a Gunaikurnai elder passing on millennia old canoe-building traditions to his grandchildren.

Boorun’s Canoe has been exhibited at the Melbourne Museum, Latrobe Regional Gallery and added to the permanent collection of Museum Victoria. In 2014 Cope was awarded Travel Photographer of the Year by the Australian Society of Travel Writers.
