Institute of Modern Art (IMA), Brisbane: Ross Manning, Dissonant Rhythms

The Sydney launch of the first monograph on the work of Brisbane-based artist and musician Ross Manning, produced on the occasion of the exhibition Dissonant Rhythms at the IMA, 5 August – 28 October 2017. Dissonant Rhythms is edited by Madeleine King, published by the IMA and features contributions by Caleb Kelly, Ellie Buttrose and Danni Zuvela. 

Accompanying this publication is a limited-edition record, Reflexes and Waves, the artist’s third LP. Reflexes and Waves features live performances of Manning’s custom percussion instruments built from steel, aluminium, timber, modified clock chimes, toy pianos, nails, and wire. It was recorded by Manning in his Yeronga studio in 2017. Reflexes and Waves is released by Room 40 and the IMA.
